2023 World Cup Star Mohammed Shami Nears Comeback, Returns To Training Nets

There were many stars in the 2023 ODI World Cup for India. However, Shami was one of the most promising ones. Recently, he has been on the sidelines for some time. The reason has been his ankle surgery, which has taken a toll on him. He is now preparing himself to make a comeback.

Recently, he shared a post on his Instagram handle that he is getting back to form. He was seen practicing in the past in the nets.

He was instrumental in the World Cup campaign of the Indian cricket team last year. He took 24 wickets in the ace event with an economy of 10. he was suffering from an injury during the event. However, he took injections for the treatment to continue for the Indian team in the big tournament.

Later on, he went for the surgery to get rid of the injury. Now, after being free from the major rehab schedule. Now, he is working on his fitness as a player. He is also going to miss the series against Sri Lanka.

Previously, he also missed the opportunity to represent India in the T20 World Cup. Later on, he also missed the South Africa and England tour.

In his absence, the responsibility has been passed on to the likes of Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep. They were part of the team in the recently concluded Zimbabwe tour. On the tour, the team won the series with a handsome 4- 1 lead. Now, they are preparing for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

On the next tour, the team is going to encounter the island nation for the white-ball series. There will also be no Bumrah in the squad, as he is also most probably going to be rested for the series.

In recent stories, Gautam Gambhir is the new coach of the Indian team. He is likely going to be the top person for some time. He is superseding Laxman as the top dog of the Indian team.
