Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit starrer Tezaab is set to be available to watch again with a new cast and storyline. According to the sources, the remake was set to be shot with Ranveer Singh and Janhvi Kapoor. But, recently, a buzz was circulating rumors of replacing Ranveer Singh from Kartik Aaryan.
The actor denied the reports of being a part of the remake. To clear the air, the actor responded to a post claiming his presence in the movie and replacement of Ranveer Singh. He simply wrote, “Not True.” The actor was last seen in Shehzada, which is a remake of a Telugu movie. The movie couldn’t perform well on screen. The actor’s last commercial success was BhulBhulaiyaa 2.
Last year the remake was announced. According to the sources, the producer Murad Khetani who worked for movies like Animal, BhulBhulaiyaa 2, and Thadam Hindi remake, has acquired the rights to the movie. The producer said that they will adapt the story to modern times. He did not add any further information regarding the remake.
The original movie was released in 1988 and was directed by N Chandra. The movie stars Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor as lead characters. The film was the first big break for Madhuri Dixit’s Bollywood career. It was a commercial success and was the highest-grossed movie of that year. It surely worked for her and made her an overnight star in the film industry.
With its commercial success, the director N Chandra scored a box office hat-trick with his previous blockbuster Ankush (1986) and Pratighaat (1987). The music of the film was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. The song “Ek Do Teen” was a chart-busting success and is still popular among audiences. The movie received a total of four awards which include Best Actor, Best Director, Best Film, and Best supporting actor at the 34th Filmfare Awards.
The movie was filled with extraordinary performances by co-actors like Johnny Lever, Anupam Kher, Chunky Pandey, Suparna Anand, Kiran Kumar, Annu Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, TejSapru, Mahavir Shah, Jack Gaud, Suhas Joshi, Vijay Patkar, Ravi Patwardhan, Mandakini, AchyutPotdar, Dinesh Hingoo, etc.
Reports of the remake of the movie are circulating on social media since last year. Some sources claimed that initially Kartik Aryan and Shraddha Kapoor were on the list, but then the team decided to approach Ranveer Singh and Janhvi Kapoor. And recently Kartik Aaryan denied the reports of him being in the movie.

The director had worked with popular actors like Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Tabu in his previous movies. And he worked for VrdhanKetkar directed Gumrah which was recently released on 7 April. The movie stars Aditya Roy Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Ronit Roy, and VedikaPainto including other co-actors.
