Actor and assistant director Sooraj Pancholi were acquitted in the Jiah Khan Suicide case due to lack of evidence. The actor said it took ten painful years, and he won’t get all these years of his life back. The actor was booked for ‘abetment to suicide’ in 2013 when Jiah Khan was found dead at her apartment in Mumbai.
A six-page letter was found in her apartment after her suicide, based on which the actor booked for the case. Jiah Khan’s mother accused him of murdering her daughter. She constantly made statements of murder, but the autopsy reports ruled out any foul play and stated that the cause of death was hanging.
On Friday, a special CBI court acquitted the actor due to lack of evidence. The actor made a statement after the verdict, the actor said he had lost ten years of his life and spent all these painful years with sleepless nights.
He added this is not only a case he won, but also his confidence and dignity. He said it took him a lot of courage to face such heinous allegations.
He further said he doesn’t want anyone to go through what he went through at such a young age. And, he added, he is glad that this has finally come to an end not only for him but also for his family. He mentioned there is nothing bigger than peace.
Sooraj Pancholi’s Career and personal life
Sooraj Pancholi is the son of well-known celebrities Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab. He started his acting career in 2015 with his debut movie Hero. For this, he won a Filmfare Award for best newcomer.
In 2019, the actor was seen in a movie named Satellite Shankar. He has also worked in some music videos, including GF BF (2016) and Dim Dim Lights (2019).
He has also worked as an assistant director for films like Guzaarish and Ek The Tiger. Along with his debut movie Hero, he has worked in movies like Time To Dance, Hawa Singh, and Satellite Shankar. The actor hasn’t been in any movie since his last release, Time To Dance in 2021.
In the Time To Dance movie, the actor worked opposite Isabelle Kaif, who is the sister of popular actor Katrina Kaif. The movie was directed by Stanley D’costa. The movie couldn’t perform well on screen. But we may see him in his next movie soon, including his upcoming project Hawa Singh, which is scheduled to be released this year.
The actor was known more for his personal life than for his Bollywood career. Jiah Khan’s suicide made him struggle for 10 years to prove his innocence. After 10 years of investigation, the court acquitted him for not having any solid evidence against him.
