Imtiaz Ali announced the release of the movie Amar Singh Chamkila, a movie starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. As seen in the trailer, Diljit Dosanjh has done justice to the role and stood up to the expectations.
Born on the 21st of July 1960, Chamkila loved singing from his childhood. In his initial days, he was working in a cloth mill and writing songs. He started singing the songs he wrote and when he recorded the song Takue Te Takua, he gained fame. His songs were played in Punjab villages and there he earned the stage name, ‘Chamkila’.
Unfortunately, Chamkila died when he was just at his popularity peak. Amit Trivedi labeled Chamkila as the ‘Elvis of Punjab’. It happened that he along with his wife were getting out of a car. As soon as they were out, the couple were gunned down by unidentified assailants who were on bikes and fled and all of this happened in broad daylight.
Chamkila wrote many songs including songs having lyrics concerning extramarital relationships, drug use and Punjabi men’s habits, drinking, and more. Some of his hits include Baba Tera Nankana, Pehle Lalkare Naal, and Talwar Main Kalgidhar.

This trio has already worked together earlier in movies just as Tamasha, Rockstar, and now Amar Singh Chamkila. The trailer of Amar Singh Chamkila was released on Thursday where the movie plot is encircled on Chamkila’s life who went from working in a shoe factory to becoming a legendary singer of the Punjab industry. Later on, he was then targeted by people because of the demonstration of vulgarity in his songs. Several users have different opinions, for instance, one user said, ‘This movie will be the turning point of Diljit Dosanjh’s life…Mark my words! People will forever remember him for his role’. The movie is all set to release on 12th April on Netflix. About the actors, Imtiaz Ali said, ‘I could not have asked for better actors than the immensely talented Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra to play in this film, especially since it involves some living singing. The film follows the crazed popularity of Chamkila’s daring songs that society could neither ignore nor swallow.
