Recently in an interview, actor Anupam Kher talks about how people troll him for speaking his mind. He added he is an Indian and his first interest is our country. He admitted that if the present government thinks more of our country then he automatically associates with them.
Anupam Kher added if he wants to join a political party he would have joined it. He said his interest is in India and he is India-centric. And if people want to associate it with any political party then it’s their problem.
The actor also spoke about why celebrities might not want to talk about their political views. He said actors have a fan base, and in today’s time it can be easily misconstrued. It can easily lead to an issue. He also mentioned Dev Anand Saab and Vijay Anand Saab who supported a particular ideology. They were vocal and used to work together, the actor said.

Anupam Kher Career and Family
Anupam Kher is a popular actor who has spent almost 49 years in the film industry. In 1984, he made his debut with Mahesh Bhatt-directed Saaransh. The film performed average at the Indian box office but Kher’s performance took all the credits. He is more popular for playing the character of an elderly father.
The actor won several awards for his extraordinary performance and contribution to Indian cinema. In 2004, the government of India honored him with Padma Shri (4th highest civilian award). In 2016, the actor was honored with Padma Bhushan. Apart from these national awards, he has achieved several accolades from Film Industry.
Besides his contribution to the Hindi film industry, the actor appeared in international films as well. These films include Bend It Like Beckham, Lust, Caution, Silver Linings Playbook, and Hotel Mumbai. The actor previously served on the Central Board of Film Certification as a chairman. Also, the actor contributed to the National School of Drama as a chairman.
In 2017, the actor was appointed as chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India. However, this appointment was quite controversial and regarded as his support for the Bhartiya Janata Party. But within a year the actor resigned from the post citing his commitments to the show New Amsterdam (an American television show).
The actor belongs to a Kashmiri Pandit family settled in Himachal Pradesh. His father served as a clerk in the forest department of Himachal Pradesh. He did his schooling at D. A. V. School in Shimla and studied economics at a government college, Sanjauli, Himachal Pradesh. But he dropped out of the degree and went on to achieve his passion in the film industry.
