Wednesday’s practice for Inter Miami was visited by David Beckham in order to get ready for hosting football great Lionel Messi. The World Cup champion has joined the Miami squad and will eventually be announced as a Miami player on Sunday. 

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. The Miami co-owner has scored a major victory here. Messi revealed last month that he would be joining the team after rejecting down the costly option of moving to Saudi Arabia and realizing that relocating to Barcelona was no longer an option.

When the Argentine arrived in Miami on Tuesday, MLS fans were salivating at the prospect of the superstar flaming up the soccer world in a few weeks. Additionally, on Wednesday, David Beckham, who helped revolutionize American football in 2007 by joining the Los Angeles Galaxy, was seen at Tata Martino’s practice.

The former England and Manchester United player watched as Messi’s potential teammates were put to the test. He also made a couple passes across the slick surface while juggling a ball since he simply could not help himself.

It’s expected that Miami and Lionel Messi will come to terms on a two-and-a-half-year deal with an option for a third season. According to Beckham’s Miami co-founder Jorge Mas, Messi will be paid between $50 million and $60 million yearly with cash derived from Apple TV, which holds MLS membership rights, and Adidas via sales of Miami apparel. The 36-year-old had been on vacation in the Caribbean with his wife Antonela and their three sons.

The family was photographed outside of the club’s DRV PNK Stadium on Tuesday afternoon as Miami supporters gathered there to commemorate the historic move. On Thursday, July 21, against Cruz Azul, Lionel Messi is expected to make his League Cup debut after being officially introduced by Miami on Sunday night.
